Moving Out Of Parents House With Husband and Don't Know How To Cook!!!!?

I'm moving out of my parents house and going to a new house but I don't really know how to cook. I know how to cook simple things like eggs etc. But when I think of what should I cook my mind goes blank. My mom is usually the one that does cooking but my husband got tired of it and wants me to cook. And now that i'm moving out i'm not gonna have my mom to do it for me. Is there any good cook books out there that anyone can tell me about? Thanks A Lot.|||Here are the books that I use. They are very good and I know that you can do it. For just starting out try Sandra Lee. She is semi homemade. She takes help from the boxed stuff and makes it taste homemade. It is wonderfull. I also swear by Rachael Ray. She is awesome and all of her meals taste great. The main cookbook that I think needs to be in every kitchen is the Betty Crooker Picture book and the Better Homes and Gardens New cookbook. Those should help you out a ton. I know they have for me and I wish you the best|||I was exactly the same way as you, 15 years ago. I made a LOT of hamburger helper. Then I tried to go the gourmet route, spending 4 - 5 hours on a fancy dinner. Now I've perfected quite a few dishes that aren't hard - tacos, spaghetti, hamburgers, chicken breast and rice, stir fry - if you just learn a few of these, you can make variations. Also try online recipes, you will have more variety to look over and to choose which ones would be good. Cooking is NOT that hard. The key for me was finding foods that I actually wanted to eat. If it sounded good, looked easy enough , then I'd try it. Good luck, you can do it!! Start easy with some of the above (tacos) and go from there.|||Betty Crocker, and Better Homes and Gardens have some great basic cookbooks. Also, you should look for Fix-It and Forget-It cookbooks. They have slow-cooker recipes that you can put together earlier in the day and then have ready when you get home.

Get your husband to help you cook, too. Once he learns how, the two of you can work together and you guys won't be counting on just one person to get things done. Just remind him that if he doesn't eat the "mistakes" that you make, then he won't eat!

Good luck!|||Does'nt he know how to cook. Why can't you both cook, maybe, like together?|||I hope your kids aren't doing this in 25 years. Have you learned anything so far?|||My favorite is the Jungle Camp Cookbook.|||Try the "I Want to be an Adult, But Don't Know How" cookbook by Poor Little Old Me Press. It's great that you're moving out, so that Mom doesn't have to support and cook for your slack arses. 'twould be even better if you showed your "husband", who is tired of Mommy's cooking, the door and you see if you can get a life! You young'ns kill me!!!|||I agree with the Betty Crocker idea. Also go to kraftfoods.com and order their mag, it's free and comes every 3 months. You can also get so many great recipes that are basically "semi-homemade".|||Get a Betty Crocker cookbook. It has good recipes that are easy to follow.
